239. Pizza Hut

Soup of the day- Chicken soup
Oriental Chicken Baked Rice

Wanted to go budget on lunch so I got it settled at Pizza Hut. Student meal. A choice of main, soup and free-flow pepsi at $5.90, subjected to GST. Ordered the Oriental chicken baked rice. I remembered my previous visit, a friend ordered baked rice and we waited for at least 30 mins before she finally got her baked rice. Of course, she was famished by that time. Surprisingly, today, my baked rice came pretty fast. They delivered the baked rice as promised, 7-15 mins.
The oriental chicken baked rice consisted of chunks of tomatoes and chicken. Sauce was tomato and it was spicy. I felt the spiciness was a tad too much and I wouldn't recommend it for kids. Luckily, the pepsi was free-flow. Pizza Hut has always served food which are very well-flavoured. Of course, no denial, with the help of MSG. One thing to note, I felt Pizza Hut has improved on the quantity of the food and of course on the price with the great deals. Student meals, 1 for 1 and etc. My lunch cost $7 which I felt was pretty worthwhile.

231. Bongo Burgers

Bongo Burgers. You must have been thinking where this place is. Frankly speaking, I myself have no idea that there is a fast food outlet called Bongo Burgers until today. I went to the Jurong Bird Park this morning. I have not been there since my primary school days. I have no recollections of how the bird park looked like. It was 9 plus and the only food we saw was Bongo Burgers. We have decided to have Bongo Burgers when we were turning into the carpark. They had a banner which showed that a set of Turkey Ham and Cheese sandwich with a cuppa of tea/coffee, costing only $2.50. It was a good deal.

The place didn't look like any of the fast food chains we see in shopping centres. It was like some cafe. Stone tables and chairs....

African style setting. Spears and arrows. The word 'Bongo' was already very African. Bongo is a kind of drum which was a common music instrument used by the South Africans. The staffs were dressed like hunters.
Turkey Ham and Cheese Sandwich Set @$2.50

Buttered on the exterior. Melting cheese and slice ham in the sandwich. The cheese they have used was quite salty. With the butter on the exterior, it was overall quite oily. But it was a good deal. Together with a cuppa coffee/tea, the set cost only $2.50. It was enough to fill the stomach before embarking on the bird trail.
Hashbrowns @$2.90

Hot and crispy. Glad that it was not soggy. Freshly prepared. I must say 4 hashbrowns at $2.90 was not expensive at all.
Sausage Set @$6.90
This set came with a cuppa of coffee/tea. I must say the $2.50 a set was a better deal. The difference being the scrambled egg and sausages. It was not exceptionally good but a fulfilling breakfast.

I must say some planning must come into place when it comes to eating wisely. Wise on the price. We ordered 2 sets of the $2.50 set and a sausage set. Breakfast for the 5 of us. Total bill was a mere $14.80. If we were to order 5 sets on the menu, it would have cost us $34.50. Doubled the price.

210. Pizza Hut

A-La_Carte Large size @$31.20
Every festive season, Pizza Hut delivers to us new flavours. For this Christmas, we have the X'Mas Surprise Pizza. It was quite nice. Pretty similar to the Ocean's catch pizza whereby instead of seafood, it had chicken strips. A layer of mayonnaise laid underneath. Mozzarella cheese at the crust. It was a little salty with that amount of cheese and not to mention....fattening.
Spicy Drumlets @$7.20 for 10 pcs

Add on side dish. The drumlets are always a favourite among diners. Very well-marinated but oily.
I felt Pizza Hut uses a great deal of MSG because I will always get very thirsty after having their pizza.
Citibank credit card gets 25% off. So, it was relatively quite a good deal. If I didn't remember wrongly, my bill came at about $30 for the pizza and the drumlets.

120. Mcdonald

Dinner was settled with this new product of McDonald. New product, so die die must try. The wasabi filet-o-fish. The wasabi fries were quite good though it's pretty weird to have the greenish wasabi powder added to the fries. It's a bit like adding MSG. I didn't really like the filet-o-fish. It's not really something new to have wasabi in the burger. Previously they have introduced the wasabi dipping sauce. The same dipping sauce was now used in the burger. The wasabi wasn't very choking. They have changed the lettuce into a mix salad. Overall, the burger wasn't a "wow".
Something to commend about was the delivery time. I like the online ordering system. It is so clear and easy-to-use. They stated that delivery will be done within 30 minutes and they took lesser than 30 minutes! Very efficient, I should say. Not like the KXX, I have heard of many complaints about their operators being rude and long waiting time.
