80. Siam Kitchen

**The Ladyironchef gave me some feedback regarding the format of my food reviews. See the change? Thanks.

I have often seen Siam Kitchen but I have never eaten it before. Just now, during lunch hour, I walked passed it and saw the 50% off weekday lunch and decided togive it a try. They have promotions on set lunch too which the 50% discount was not applicable. But my makan kaki and I decided on ala-carte.
Crackers @$1
The crackers, you could ask for refill. I saw the ladies sitting next to my table attacked the crackers so quickly. I could tell they were really famished. Ladies, do take note of your dining ettiquette. Haha.

Peek Gai Tod (Lemongrass chicken wings) @$7.90

The fried chicken wings with the thai dipping sauce was so-so. I could not taste
any difference to the usual fried chicken wings.

Tom Yum Talay (Tom Yum Soup) @$7.90

I won't say I have high expectations for the tom yum soup because up to now, I have yet to taste a real good one. The tom yum soup was served in a bowl much smaller than those used for chinese herbal steam soup. It was more of sour than spicy.

Pad Thai gai (Thai style kway teow with chicken) @$8.50

The pad thai was good. I felt it was like our abang's mee goreng except it was kway teow. It's alright...I like mee goreng anyway.

Kway Teow Look Chin Nuea (Beef noodles) @$8.90

Their beef noodles surprised me. Again, I should say I didn't have high expectations for it. It was good. The beef balls were springy or I should say 'dionk dionk'. Haha. The beef stripes were those with a little fat linings, so it was much better than those lean ones.

I felt their service needs to be improved. The outlet at Bugis Junction has two entrances/exits. Some customers stood outside the door not knowing if they should wait to be served or simply walk in and be seated. But still, most waited at the entrance. Yet, no waiter or waitresses walked forward to serve. I think they were outnumbered. Only 3 serving staffs.

Water was only served upon request. One of the waiters was quite forgetful. The ladies seated next table have finished eating their main course for some time and dessert was not served. So, they requested for their desserts and bill at the same time. While one of the ladies make her way to the counter to make payment, dessert was served. But, the waiter brought the dessert to my table. He only realised it was the wrong table after I told him I did not order that. But, the lady ordered the dessert from him earlier on! The lady seated at the table requested for another spoon. Yet, the waiter brought the spoon to my table again! Faint. LOL

I spent $19.85 for 2 pax. It was reasonably cheap. We have no more room for the desserts so we gave it a miss. Most of the people ordered the chendol with azuki red bean instead of the mango slices with glutinous rice. Not sure how was it but I will definitely consider going back for the pad thai and beef noodles.
