56. 二姑糖水

I have a sweet tooth. Chinatown was once the base for the early cantonese immigrants. The cantonese loved to drink tong shui (traditional desserts), especially after their meal. Drinking tong shui is no longer what many cantonese like. More and more people like it. Many outlets like Chew desserts and 记得吃 @liang seah street, 香魏园 @temple street (chinatown) etc have very good business. These outlets were always packed with customers at peak hours. Whenever I am in chinatown, I will get a bowl of almond paste. 二姑糖水 is 1 of the stalls in chinatown food centre selling such traditional desserts. It cost only $1.20 per bowl. However, the quality is how much you have paid for it. I felt it was too watery. The almond taste was not strong.
If you want a 'full body' almond paste, go for it at 香魏园 which is just 1 street away. The almond paste there was the best that I have tasted so far. $2.50 per bowl but very worthwhile. The almond paste is very rich.
