243. Sydney - Pancakes on the Rocks

This is another place for breakfast in Sydney. A must-visit on my itinerary. I was joyed that I could have pancakes for breakfast because I love pancakes. The only place we could have easy access to pancakes for breakfast in Singapore is Mcdonalds. It is open for business as early as 7am (SGD time: 5am).
Eggs Benedict and Pancakes @AUD12.95

A piece of pancake, a hashbrown, 2 eggs benedict and a piece of ham. I felt it was too pricey. Price included GST. I didn't like the hashbrown be made into rosti. It tasted weird and had that greasy feel, unlike the hashbrown we usually had. I would applaud for their pancakes. It's fluffy and yet I could taste a tinge of crispiness on the exterior. It's very popular in Sydney, expect long queues on the weekends.

242. Sydney - The Cupcake Bakery

On my way to The Rocks, I passed by this cupcake bakery a few times and each time I was attracted to the dainty cupcakes on display. And you see, they claimed they have the best cupcakes in Sydney. No bluff har? Gotta try out myself. Actually, for the two weeks I was in Sydney, there were many cafes around but I have not seen a bakery that just sells cupcakes.

Lemon & Poppyseed @AUD3.50

I got this over the many other choices which were very enticing. However, given the thought that dinner was to be served soon, there was no room for more cupcakes. I have always thought lemon cupcake was a fairer choice over chocolate ones. The chocolate ones always taste good. The lemon ingredient balanced out the grease in the butter cake. The icing was smooth. Cupcake was of the appropriate moisture and not greasy. It makes a great afternoon snack, just that I felt it was a tad 'atas' (pricey) for a small cupcake to cost AUD3.50. The cupcake bakery serves coffee and a cupcake for AUD5.

241. Sydney - Delafrance Provincial Bakery

Foodies Queen went for a 2 weeks hiatus at Sydney. Entering into the winter season, the time difference from Singapore was shortened to a 2 hours instead of 3. I stayed at George street and every morning, I see this delafrance bakery crowded with morning breakfast goers. It was also the most obvious place that one could have breakfast as the nearby food outlets were not opened. It looked like our delifrance though.

Chicken sandwich @AUD7.70
They called the bread triangle because it was shaped like a triangle. AUD7.70 for a chicken sandwich was not too bad given the size of it could have last the lady to go without food till dinner.
Add AUD2 for a cuppa regular coffee - cappuccino/ long short / latte

Big Baked Breakfast @AUD12.95

I had this. Well, I wouldn't say that it tasted exceptionally nice but at least it was not bread. Bread seemed to be a regular patron on the menu since I embarked on my journey. The sausages were pretty salty. Sauteed tomatoes were nice. Bacon a tad too fat and greasy for breakfast. I wouldn't have liked swiss brown mushrooms for breakfast, they worked better in spaghetti. Overall, it was a satisfying breakfast but I still prefer my fried bee hoon, carrot cake .......

240. Ajisen Ramen Restaurant

White Fish
The white fish was an ala-carte dish that comes with the set meal consisting of a ramen and a drink. I didn't take a picture of the ramen. The Ajisen in Singapore has never wowed me. I felt the ramen is not quite there. I'm not sure if I'm too picky, I find the ramen a tad hard. It was not springy but rather I had the feel that it was not cooked thoroughly.
Well, at least the side dishes were not too bad. Just that I find the varieties were quite limited. On the menu, many were not available.
Corn Salad @$5.80
2 crab sticks, corn, sliced cucumber and a spoonful of roe. Nothing much special but it was fulfilling enough for a snack.
Cold Tofu @$3.80
I loved the cold tofu! The sauce had a mild seducing tinge of sourness (I suppose they used vinegar), together with the fragrant of the sesame oil, miso paste and the sesame seeds, the cold tofu became a light side dish which I think is very suitable for the ladies on diet.

Frankly speaking, eating at the local Ajisen made me recall the Ajisen in Shanghai. The food at Ajisen in Shanghai is cheap. Same portion, more varieties and yet at a cheaper price! And they served pickled cucumbers. If you happened to go Shanghai, do check out the Ajisen there!

239. Pizza Hut

Soup of the day- Chicken soup
Oriental Chicken Baked Rice

Wanted to go budget on lunch so I got it settled at Pizza Hut. Student meal. A choice of main, soup and free-flow pepsi at $5.90, subjected to GST. Ordered the Oriental chicken baked rice. I remembered my previous visit, a friend ordered baked rice and we waited for at least 30 mins before she finally got her baked rice. Of course, she was famished by that time. Surprisingly, today, my baked rice came pretty fast. They delivered the baked rice as promised, 7-15 mins.
The oriental chicken baked rice consisted of chunks of tomatoes and chicken. Sauce was tomato and it was spicy. I felt the spiciness was a tad too much and I wouldn't recommend it for kids. Luckily, the pepsi was free-flow. Pizza Hut has always served food which are very well-flavoured. Of course, no denial, with the help of MSG. One thing to note, I felt Pizza Hut has improved on the quantity of the food and of course on the price with the great deals. Student meals, 1 for 1 and etc. My lunch cost $7 which I felt was pretty worthwhile.
